The former president accused President Donald Trump and his loyalists of trying to “distort and derail our fight for equality” and “further divide the country.”

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are trying to distort and derail our fight for equality,” he said. “They’re trying to turn this into something scary, something sinister. But, friends, this isn’t really about anything that complicated. At its heart, it’s about giving every American the opportunity to be treated with basic civility, dignity, and the respect they deserve. That’s what every American deserves.”
