Big believer in law of land, customer-centricity: Amazon India head on regulatory gaze over online platforms

New Delhi, August 17 (PTI) in the midst of a growing regulatory review on online platforms, Amazon India President Samir Kumar claimed that the e-commerce company is a “great believer” in the customer center and is completely ready to ensure that consumers are well ready to support consumers.
The comment comes at a time when there is a rising regulatory glare in online companies. The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) had published a counsel on e-commerce platforms to detect ‘dark patterns’ and to ensure that it was quickly eliminated. CCPA said in June, platforms’ self-explanations, consumers and e-commerce platforms, as well as creating a fair digital ecosystem, he said.
Kumar said that the company looked at and responded to the regulatory review in the market and said that Amazon always gives priority to customer focus.
“So first of all, first of all, whatever we do, we have to make sure that customers love it. This is my issue on this issue … We will always be some of the things that will come to our way to make sure that you have to do, and we will supervise our systems and make sure we do the right things.” He said.
Kumar added: “We have always believed that we put customers in the forward and center of everything, and when we see problems with our customer experience, we spend all our energy to correct it and we will continue to do it in the future.”
When the company believes whether the authorities such as CCPA or CCI pointed to a lively, expanding market, Kumar stressed that Amazon is determined to comply with the laws of the country.
“A great belief in obeying the land law, we’re sure we’re always working in harmony.
“Thus, whether all these organs are injured, whether all these organs are injured, whether all these organs are injured, and a great belief to make sure we look at our customers,” he said.
He stressed that Amazon is completely ready to address the findings and to ensure that customers are well supported.
Gamar, “So no matter what the finding, I am very happy to make sure we address them and look at our customers.” He said.
India is expected to be one of the greatest contributors to Amazon’s long-term growth, and the e-commerce giant doubles in this market, in which long-term investments earn billions of dollars.
According to Kumar, who manages operations as a country manager of Amazon India, India still does not penetrate in -depth in terms of online consumption and therefore offers a “a huge opportunity” for Amazon.
Amazon has committed significant investment in the Indian infrastructure. La2,000 Crore for only 2025. Until 2030, 26 billion US dollars were included in a wider investment commitment, nearly 15 billion US dollars between 2023 and 2030.
Kumar said that India is one of the fastest growing markets for the company.
“And we believe that India will be one of the biggest contributions to our growth in the long run.” He said.
India is still not deeply penetrating deeply in terms of consumption, users are online, while buying products while buying and watching videos, they added that there is a large ceiling gap for growth when it comes to growth.
“… everyone does not shop online. If you just look at the mobile phone penetration, perhaps one billion people with mobile phones, but only 100 million plus online shopping. So the next 200 million (the company wants to reach) will be part of it,” he said.
As Kumar, as the economy grows and consumption increases and the GDP per capita increases, he believes that India is ready to have “more consumers who will value the comfort of online shopping”.
“We have seen this phenomenon around the world. So we still have a great opportunity in India … We have 1.4 billion people.” He said.
The company has identified its landscapes to what Kumar describes as a wider ‘Bharat’ living in 2nd level, 3 cities and beyond.
“Let’s take a good part of this and make sure that they can shop online, get the best value and get the fastest possible delivery. And I believe it is a great opportunity. So beyond the level of City, there is a great opportunity like Tier 2, 3 cities, we see very deep penetration here.”
