India reportedly began to meet with Russia to buy the advanced S-500 air defense system after the S-400’s remarkable performance during the Sindoor operation. According to reports, India negotiates more S-400 units than Russia. So far, India has received 3 of the 5 S-400 system, and the rest of them are expected to arrive next year. During the Sindoor operation, the S-400 system has successfully destroyed multiple Pakistani drones and missiles, and gave India a great advantage to India.

India, which is encouraged by this success, is now aiming to acquire the new generation S-500 Prometheus system. The S-500 is considered the world’s most advanced missile defense technology, which can detect and destroy hidden aircraft, hypersonic missiles and long-range threats at heights up to 200 km and 600 km.

China’s two types of secret fighter aircraft (J-20 and J-35) operated and Pakistan’s J-35A’yı purchased from China has been reported to increase the Indian defense network. The S-500’s ability to monitor low-frequency signals is ideal to identify hidden technology by providing significant protection against future threats.

Russia presented the S-500 to India with a local joint production proposal that allows the system to be built in India. Defense experts say that the S-500, which is once added to India’s defense installation, will work with existing systems such as S-400, Akash, MR-SAM and Project Kusha to create a strong multi-layer air defense network.

If the S-500 agreement is successful, it will not only develop India’s air defense capabilities, but will also increase its strategic advantage over China and Pakistan.
