Loughborough incident LIVE: Emergency services swarm town over ‘hazardous substance’ | UK | News

Here is the full statement from the police.
“There is currently a cordon at Baxter Gate in Loughborough.
“The cordon was put in place shortly after 1pm following a report of a potentially hazardous substance being found at the workplace.
“The building in question, along with other nearby buildings, was evacuated as a precaution. A cordon was placed to ensure public safety while emergency services responded to the incident.
“For this reason, the roads were also closed.
“Officers remain in the area and are working with colleagues from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service to carry out further investigations into the incident.
“No serious injuries have been reported at this time.
“We will provide further updates when available.”
