Bihar Becomes First State to Cut Voters Per Booth Below 1,200: EC

New Delhi: The Election Commission said on Monday that Biha has become the first state in the country to have less than 1,200 voters at voting stations. The questionnaire said that voters per voting station to reduce the maximum of 1,200 from 1,500 to reduce the maximum of 1,200 on the voting station. EC said that 12,817 new polling station was added to Bihar to avoid long queues to host voters.
The total number of voting stations in Bihar will now rise from 77,895 to 90,712. A similar exercise to reduce the number of voters per questionnaire (called rationalization in EC’s terminology) will be performed in all states and union regions. The EC was trying to ensure that voters did not have to travel more than 2 kilometers to reach the polls wherever possible. In order to provide more voter participation, polling stations were established in high -rise buildings and societies.
