Jim Harbaugh reacts to Sherrone Moore’s firing and charges at Michigan

Jim Harbaugh was asked Friday about his successor’s scandal at Michigan and said he had yet to process the matter.
Sherrone Moore, who was Harbaugh’s offensive coordinator before taking over as head coach after Harbaugh left Michigan to lead the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024, was fired Wednesday and charged with trespassing, stalking and breaking and entering before being arrested.
At the Chargers’ press conference on Friday, Harbaugh was asked about his reaction to Moore’s situation.

“It’s still being processed. I heard about it. Chad Jessop, one of our equipment guys, said to me as I was walking off the field on Thursday. So… umm… I’m sure he’s still processing it, like a lot of people.”
Moore joined Harbaugh’s staff as tight ends coach in 2018 and was promoted to offensive coordinator by 2023. That year, Moore also served as interim head coach and Harbaugh was suspended twice, and Michigan posted a 4-0 record in Harbaugh’s absence. Michigan won the national championship against Washington that year.
Harbaugh left the program to return to the NFL, and Moore was promoted to become the first Black head coach in Michigan football history.
Now Moore is unemployed and at the center of one of the biggest college sports scandals of the year.
After Moore was fired on Wednesday, the university announced it had found credible evidence of an “inappropriate relationship” with an employee. Moore then detained by police After news of the layoffs broke on Wednesday.

Moore appeared in court Friday on harassment and trespassing charges. He’s facing a problem, according to prosecutors serious crime third-degree trespassing and two counts of misdemeanor stalking, breaking and entering.
Both misdemeanor charges relate to “domestic relationship.”
Prosecutors accused Moore of communicating with the employee through phone calls and texts after the separation, which prompted the victim to contact the University of Michigan and cooperate with the investigation. Moore was later fired from his position as head football coach, which prosecutors said prompted him to go to the woman’s home.
Moore allegedly “battered” into the residence, grabbed a butter knife and a pair of kitchen shears, and began threatening to take his own life. Moore allegedly told staff, “You’ve got my blood on your hands” and “You ruined my life,” according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors alleged that Moore “terrorized” the employee and that they believed he “posed a risk to public safety.”

Francis Xavier “Biff” Poggi He has been named interim head coach and will remain on the sidelines when Michigan faces Texas in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31.
Poggi replaced Moore earlier this season when Moore was suspended for recruiting violations.
