Bitten By A Venomous Snake, Odisha Woman Catches It And Takes It To Hospital In A Biscuit Box

Malkangiri (Odisha): In a remarkable show of courage and cool-headedness, a woman from a remote village in Odisha’s Malkangiri district did something few could have imagined after being bitten by a venomous snake; He captured the reptile alive, locked it in a biscuit tin and carried it with him to the hospital.

This extraordinary event stunned doctors, hospital staff and local residents.

The woman, identified as Manima Nayak from Kurumpali village, was sleeping in her house when a poisonous snake entered during the night and bit her leg. The woman, who was startled by a sharp pain, immediately realized that a snake had bitten her.

For most people, a moment like this triggers panic. Fear alone can be overwhelming when faced with a potentially fatal snake bite. However, Manima reacted differently.

Rather than calling for help or running away in terror, he decided that identifying the snake could help doctors administer the most appropriate treatment. Gathering extraordinary courage, he tracked down the reptile in his home and managed to capture it alive.

He then placed the snake in an empty biscuit tin, closed the lid securely and headed straight for the nearest hospital, carrying his unusual “evidence” with him.

What happened in the hospital was quite dramatic.

When doctors and other patients learned that the box in Manima’s hand contained the same snake that had bitten her, shock and concern briefly spread throughout the building. While the medical teams examined the situation carefully, curious citizens also gathered around.

Doctors later praised Manima’s composure and stated that identifying the snake helped them evaluate the case more accurately and initiate appropriate treatment without delay.

It is reported that Manima is currently under treatment and her condition is stable.
