BJP targets Rahul Gandhi over foreign visits, says he is ‘Leader of Paryatan’

New Delhi: The BJP on Friday alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is always in “constant vacation mode” and is often absent in Parliament, elections or whenever his party needs him.

The ruling party claimed that Gandhi was away “on another foreign visit”.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said that for Gandhi, LOP does not mean Leader of Opposition but “Leader of Paryatan (tourism) and Partisanship”.

“Rahul Gandhi should rename LOP as ‘Paryatan and Leader of the Party’ because that is what he has always done – partying, tourism and travel,” he said in a video statement. he said.

“He does not put people, Parliament or even the country first. He puts tourism first. He runs away during critical periods when the party needs organizational support. He runs away during Parliament sessions. Rahul Gandhi is always on holiday mode,” Poonawalla said.
The Congress leader may be the longest-serving opposition leader as he is “only on vacation”, the party spokesman said. “On the one hand, Prime Minister Modi has become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of the country. The Prime Minister has not taken a single day off in over 9,000 days as prime minister and head of government.

“This is called work mode, service (seva) mode. Rahul Gandhi, on the other hand, could become the longest-serving opposition leader just because he is on vacation,” Poonawalla said.

He claimed that Gandhi had undertaken “hundreds of foreign trips and tours” and questioned the financing of these visits.

“People usually take a holiday between two working periods. Rahul Gandhi comes to India to do some work between two holiday periods. He spent millions of rupees on his holidays, but he cannot explain how he spent this money on foreign tours and travels,” he said.

He claimed that Gandhi’s foreign trips were financed by “shady” organisations.

“Frankly, he is supported by some shady organisations, who set the agenda, which is generally an anti-India agenda. On this too, the Congress and Rahul Gandhi are not giving any accountability. Rahul Gandhi has once again gone abroad. He will spew venom on India and will be MIA when the Parliament, the party and the people need him – he will be missing in action,” he said.
