Bob Simpson: Former Australia captain and coach dies aged 89

Former Australian test captain and Aries Bob Simpson died at the age of 89.
Between 1957 and 1978, Simpson played 62 tests for Australia and conducted 4,869 runs, including 10 centuries in an average of 46.81.
He also took 71 small doors with his leg return and became famous as one of the best Slip field areas in the game.
Initially retired for playing in 1968, Simpson made an extraordinary return as a 41 -year -old test captain in 1978 and after participating in a few Australian actor Breavay World series Kriket competition.
“Bob Simpson was one of the best of the Australian cricket, and this is a sad day for anyone who watched or benefited from his wisdom,” said Mike Baird, President of Australia. He said.
“A bright opening dough, an incredible Slip field player and useful Spin Bows, Bob was the basis for a very powerful Australian team in the 1960s, and became the leader in the game as the captain of Australia and the new Southern Wales and Aries.
“Bob’s decision to successfully lead the Australian team during the arrival of the World Series Cricket in 1977 was a great service to the game, and the coaching formed the basis of the Golden Generation Australian cricket.”
When Simpson took over as the Australian coach in 1986, the party did not win a test series for three years, but he controlled a dramatic revival that saw that it became one of the best teams of all time.
A new team, such as Steve Waugh and David Boon, won the 1987 World Cup and won the test series victories on the British and West Indian Islands.
In the early 1990s, Simpson, Mark Waugh, Shane Warne, Justin Langer, Matthew Hayden, Glenn McGrath and Ricky Ponting supervised the promotion of players.
After resigning in 1996, he had a consultancy role with India, as well as short spells coaching Leicestershire, Lancashire and the Netherlands.
“Bob Simpson’s extraordinary service to the Australian cricket, generations,” Australian Prime Minister Anthony, Anthony, wrote on social media.
“A player has set the highest standards for himself and the champions he leads as a coach who describes ERA. He will be remembered for a long time by his favorite game.
