Bondi shooting: Call for united stand against violence after terrifying massacre

Muslim leaders have “absolutely” condemned the Bondi massacre amid fears the death toll could rise.
At least 10 people were confirmed dead after two attackers opened fire on Sunday afternoon. It is thought that children were among the victims.
The shooting occurred near a Hanukkah event on the playground in Bondi Park, but police have not yet confirmed he was the target.
The National Imams Council of Australia and the NSW Imams Council have issued a statement calling on all Australians to remain vigilant and unite in rejecting violence.
The statement said, “These acts of violence and crimes have no place in our society. Those responsible must be fully held accountable and face the full force of the law.”
“Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and everyone who witnessed or was affected by this deeply traumatic attack. We acknowledge the pain, fear and distress felt throughout the community.
“We urge the community to remain vigilant, be careful and support each other during this challenging time.
“This is a moment for all Australians, including the Australian Muslim community, to stand together in unity, compassion and solidarity and reject all forms of violence.”
