Bondi shooting victims honoured by Australians across the nation; Chabad Community’s theme revealed as ‘Light will win, a gathering of unity and remembrance’

Albanese praised the defiance of Australian Jews against evil in the wake of the terror attack, saying they did not “hold back” or “hide in fear”.

“Love is the light that illuminates our days and cheers our hearts, but we feel its weight with pain. It is extreme cruelty for a society that has carried the burden of so much pain for generations to feel this weight in this way.”

“Those who attacked you did not trust your spirit. In the weeks since the world was turned upside down, you did not retreat. You did not hide in fear. Instead, you showed profound strength. You inspired a movement that swept the country.”

The Prime Minister concluded his speech by reaffirming his commitment to stamping out antisemitism, stating that it “goes against everything we are as a country”.

Sky News presenter Sharri Markson, who was in charge of ceremonies at the memorial, thanked Albanese for apologizing to Jewish Australians at the beginning of her speech, which was met with thunderous applause.
