A car crash involving a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle in suburban Chicago turned into a violent arrest caught on camera as the crowd taunted the agents.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told Fox News Digital that the violent confrontation occurred Friday in Evanston, Illinois, after a suspect “aggressively rear-ended” a Border Patrol vehicle and “grabbed and squeezed the agent’s genitals.” The incident quickly threw the crowd of spectators, whom authorities described as “hostile”, into chaos.

According to DHS, the Border Patrol vehicle was “aggressively pursued by a red vehicle.” When the agents tried to make a U-turn, the sedan collided with their car. One of the suspects then “physically assaulted” an agent by kicking and targeting his groin, causing the officer to make “defensive attacks.”
“A hostile mob then surrounded the agents and their vehicle and began verbally abusing them and spitting on them,” DHS deputy secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News Digital on Sunday. he said. “One physically assaulted a Border Patrol agent and kicked an agent. The arrest occurred amid rising tensions in Evanston, where community members formed “rapid response” teams to monitor federal agents and alert residents who were in the area.
In response to the incident, Mayor Daniel Biss called on more residents to join the city’s “rapid response” teams and noted that city officials have issued ordinances designating certain properties in the city as “ICICE-FREE ZONES.”

“I will continue to monitor the movements of federal agents in and around Evanston and ensure the Evanston Police Department responds appropriately,” Biss said in a post on Facebook.
At a press conference shortly after the incident, Biss continued to condemn the actions of federal immigration officers, saying they were “attacking, beating, capturing people” and “kidnapping” Evanston residents.
