Boris Johnson has rejected suggestions that his behavior as prime minister has contributed to the “coarsening” of politics.

In an exclusive interview broadcast on Sky News on Sunday (July 19), Trevor Phillips asked the former Conservative leader if he could “take some responsibility for the coarsening of politics”, referring to the Partygate scandal.

Mr Johnson told Mr Phillips: “Damn.

“I don’t believe anyone in their right mind would say that [would say that].”

The former prime minister went on to describe the Partygate scandal as “nonsense”.

Later in the interview, Mr Johnson praised Rachel Reeves for fighting back against a scammer at a gas station.
