Teen killed and 2 others wounded in shooting on New York’s Long Island: cops

Two people were taken into custody following a shooting at Eisenhower Park on New York’s Long Island on Wednesday that left a 15-year-old teenager dead and two others injured in what police described as a gang-related shooting.
The Nassau County Police Department said the shooting occurred near Hempstead Turnpike and Merrick Boulevard around 8:20 p.m.
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder told reporters that gang members saw invitations for a barbecue in the park on social media, CBS New York reported.

Ryder said the two men then got into an argument and shots were fired.
Three people, including a 15-year-old child, were injured as a result of the fire. The three victims were transported to a local hospital, where the teenager was pronounced dead.

The other two victims were listed in stable condition and underwent surgery late Wednesday, Ryder said. Their ages were not immediately known.
Two people carrying weapons were detained. Police did not identify the suspects or say what charges they might be facing.

The investigation into the armed attack continues.
After the conflict, police teams arrived at the scene and rushed to the area. While police officers investigated the incident, patrol cars were seen lining the roads and a police helicopter was seen circling the park.
