Box Hill shooting: Man killed in ‘targeted’ attack at Melbourne apartment complex

A man has been shot dead in what police believe was a “targeted” attack at a high-rise suburban apartment complex in Melbourne’s east. Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances of a fatal shooting at an address on Whitehorse Road in Box Hill in the early hours of Thursday morning, April 9.

Emergency services were called to the apartment complex around 01:50 after reports of a fight. According to Victoria Police, the man, who has not yet been officially identified, died at the scene. The crime scene has been identified and investigations are ongoing.

According to ABC News, two area residents reported hearing gunshots, one of whom believed the sound came from the 11th floor. The publication also reported that Fire Rescue Victoria responded to the building at around 1.30pm after a fire alarm was activated.
