Tanker Carrying 15,400 Tonnes of LPG Arrives at JNPA in Navi Mumbai

Tan: The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority said on Thursday that it has received an Indian-flagged ship carrying 15,400 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) that successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz amid the West Asian conflict. JNPA described this development as remarkable in the backdrop of war involving Iran, the US and Israel.

“Today, JNPA proudly welcomed the Indian flag LPG ship Green Asha, which successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and docked at JNPA’s liquid jetty operated by BPCL-IOCL,” he said in a statement.

It was stated that this was an important milestone because the ship, which was stated to be the first ship of this type to reach JNPA since the beginning of the war, brought 15,400 tons of LPG.

“The ship, its cargo and every member of the crew are safe and secure. This arrival highlights the ability of maritime operations to operate under complex geopolitical conditions, while ensuring a stable supply of essential LPG to the country,” the statement said.

The facility in Navi Mumbai, also known as JNPT and Nhava Sheva port, is one of India’s major ports handling containers and liquid cargo and plays an important role in the country’s energy supply chain, officials said.

The conflict in West Asia has affected energy supplies in the Strait of Hormuz.
