Boy, 15, dead after being hit by a truck outside Bendigo school | Victoria

A 15-year-old boy died after being struck by a lorry outside a regional Victorian school shortly before classes started.
On Friday, Victoria police said the local teenager was hit by a lorry on High Street in Bendigo at 8.30am.
A passerby attempted CPR but he died at the scene, near Girton Grammar school, a private school catering for Year 12 students.
Premier Jacinta Allan, who is also the member for Bendigo East, said she was “deeply saddened by this devastating tragedy”.
“My heart goes out to the family, their loved ones and the entire school community as they grieve the loss of one of their own,” he said.
Allan said he had reached out to the headteacher of Girton Grammar School to share his condolences and “offer whatever support is needed in the coming days, weeks and months”.
He also thanked emergency services and first responders for their work.
Greater Bendigo mayor Andrea Metcalf said the community was “deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a young life.”
“We extend our thoughts and heartfelt condolences to the child’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” he said.
The truck driver was not injured and is assisting in the investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash. No charges were made.
