A ‘cheeky’ three-year-old boy was tragically killed in a house fire in Australia after his father made a desperate attempt to re-enter the burning property to save him.
Jordan Dashwood died when his home in Melbourne’s southwest went up in flames on Monday morning.
Emergency services discovered the toddler’s body inside the burned-out residence on Newbury Street, Newbury, Werribee, shortly after midnight.
His 11-year-old brother and his parents were also there when the fire broke out.

Family friend Bianca Mizzi said she ‘felt very sick’ and cried when she learned what had happened.
“Jordan was beautiful but also sassy,” Ms Mizzi told The Age.
“When I was little, I loved to hug him, but he just wouldn’t accept it.” Local resident Thanh Zannit recalled hearing a loud explosion and witnessing enormous flames consuming the property before trying to help using a garden hose, which unfortunately failed to reach the fire.
She said: “The woman was saying my baby was inside; I was really upset, I really wanted to help but I couldn’t do anything.”
Emergency services arrived three minutes after the fire was reported.
Senior Constable Paul Hogan said on ABC radio: “Sadly, one resident of the home died at the scene and a second resident remained in hospital with serious injuries.”
