Brad Pitt Returns as Cliff Booth in David Fincher’s New Netflix Film

Los Angeles: The streamer announced that filmmaker David Fincher’s new feature film, which marks the return of Hollywood star Brad Pitt to the role of stuntman Cliff Booth, will be released on Netflix in December this year. The film, said to be called “The Adventures of Cliff Booth”, is a sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and takes place in 1977 Hollywood.
Netflix said in a statement that the film will debut in IMAX theaters worldwide on November 25 for an exclusive two-week run before coming to Netflix on December 23.
While Tarantino wrote the script, Fincher is the director.
Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Cliff Booth, a charismatic, rugged stuntman and devoted best friend of faded actor Rick Dalton in the 2019 film. It remains unclear whether Leonardo DiCaprio, who played Dalton in the original film, will appear in the sequel.
The cast of the film also includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis and Karren Karagulian.
The film marks the reunion of Pitt and Fincher, who previously worked together on “Se7en,” “Fight Club” and “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”
The project, produced by Pitt and Cean Chaffin, was set at Netflix, where Fincher had a first-look deal, last year.
The streamer gave viewers a first look at the film with a teaser that evoked a retro aesthetic with vintage cars and neon lights, released during Super Bowl LX in February.
The creative team includes director of photography Erik Messerschmidt, production designer Donald Graham Burt, editor Kirk Baxter, casting director Laray Mayfield, costume designer Trish Summerville and sound designer Ren Klyce.
Reportedly, the project took shape when Tarantino shelved plans for “The Movie Critic”, which would have been his tenth and final film, and Pitt joined the project.
It’s not uncommon for Tarantino to write screenplays for other filmmakers. He previously wrote Tony Scott’s “True Romance” and Robert Rodriguez’s “From Dusk Till Dawn.”
