Maine Democrat Graham Platner claims tax-the-rich policies aren’t ‘trying’ hard enough

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner suggested Actual plans to tax the rich have not been properly tested, a new interview says.

“I think, to be frank, the reason the middle class is exposed to this every time they try is because they don’t try,” Platner said. “Because if they did, it would offend the people who donate the most money to them. And in this political system, that’s all these people care about.”
Platner credited his former college roommate, an IRS agent, with giving him insight into how government agencies are encouraged to target small businesses rather than billionaires.

“For years he’d always tell me, ‘You know, it’s funny. When our budget gets cut, our bosses come in and say it’s time to go after small and medium-sized businesses because we don’t have the manpower or resources to get involved with a billionaire’s legal team.’ It is much easier to go down and follow a small distance [business]” said Platner.
Graham Platner suggested on the “More Perfect Union” podcast that a proper “tax the rich” policy was not being properly implemented.
He continued: “The amazing thing to me is that we’re doing this, while the total amount of uncollected taxes from corporations in this country is hundreds of billions of dollars.”
