Cloudy sky fails to dim devotion in Hyderabad as prayers offered to rising sun on Chhath Puja’s last day

Hyderabad woke up to a cloudy morning on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, as lakhs of devotees gathered along the water bodies to celebrate Usha ArghyaOn the fourth and last day of Chhath Puja, prayers are offered to the rising sun amid hymns and devotional songs.
The city’s major Chhath ghats, including those at Hussain Sagar, were filled with devotees from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and parts of West Bengal from 4 am onwards. Dedicated to Surya (Sun God) and his consort Ushas, the ritual symbolizes gratitude for the sustenance of life on earth and marks the end of the four-day festival.
Despite cloudy skies delaying sunrise, devotees stood patiently with fruit baskets and waist-deep water in their hands. soup (presentations) in hand. The moment the first rays pierced the clouds, chants of ‘Chhathi Maiya ki Jai’ echoed through the ghats as devotees raised their offerings in unison, creating a spectacle of devotion and colour.
After the morning ritual, worshipers broke their 36-hour fast by sharing. thequaA traditional dessert made of wheat flour and jaggery along with fruits and other homemade delicacies brings the festival to a close.
