The death in London of an “extremely generous, selfless and community-minded” young Brisbane man will be investigated by a coroner’s inquest.
Fletcher Beasley fell from a height on the Victoria Embankment, which runs under the Waterloo Bridge in the central area of the British capital, on June 25.
He was 21 years old.
The young man attended Brisbane Boys’ College and worked at a law firm while completing the fourth year of his business and law degree.
He was in London with friends at the time of his death.
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 2.03am on Thursday to reports of an injured person.”
“We sent an ambulance team, paramedics in rapid response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. We also sent a trauma team in a car from the London Air Ambulance.
“Despite efforts to save his life, one man sadly died at the scene.”
Beasley’s family had initially planned to hire a private investigator to investigate the death, but later confirmed they would allow the London coroner to investigate first.
“He was our perfect child,” said parents Katrina and Matt Beasley.
“Fletcher shared a beautiful relationship with his long-term partner Angelina and made the most of life with the people he loved.
“He was funny, loyal, curious about the world, extremely generous and community-minded.
“His loss leaves an immeasurable absence, but his warmth, kindness and love will continue to shape the lives of all who were lucky enough to know him.”
A note on online fundraiser He said it would help the family and close friends rebuild their lives, bring Beasley’s body home and seek “justice.”
“With so many people reaching out to Fletcher and Angelina’s families with offers of support and assistance, this fund is our answer and will offer tremendous assistance to help us all move forward as we find justice for the passing of our beautiful son,” he said.
“If you can contribute to this fund, we will continue Fletcher’s legacy of kindness, kindness and generosity while helping us get through the most difficult of times.”
It had raised almost $60,000 as of Thursday afternoon.
In a message on the page, the parents described their son as “extremely generous, selfless and community-minded.”
“It’s incredibly unfair that he was kidnapped after only 21 years, but he lived a very beautiful but very short life.”
