A British tourist fell to the ground covered in blood in a knife attack in a store in Thailand. Daniel David Brian Sutton Morris, 22, was buying a bottle of water when the angry local reportedly barged into him inside the 7-Eleven store in the notorious Pattaya city of Thailand.

The British holidaymaker from Carshalton began arguing with her fellow shopper, prompting him to pull out a knife and stab her in the right thigh. Terrified customers ran away as blood gushed from Daniel’s leg. He collapsed to the ground, where quick-thinking assistants stopped the bleeding and bystanders cornered the attacker in a nearby hallway. In the video, they can be seen ventilating Daniel and applying ice to his forehead to cool him down. The suspect, 23-year-old Natthawat Chanthong, was detained inside the store by nearby police officers during the incident in the early hours of Friday morning (February 13).

Paramedics gave first aid to Daniel at the scene. Before he was loaded into the ambulance, he lay unconscious on the ground, his face drained of color as blood flowed from his leg.

Police said today the British man had been discharged from hospital and walked towards the notorious pubs in the coastal city.

Police Commissioner Jittisuk Suthinitatwong, who attended the scene and dealt with the incident, said: “We must wait for the injured victim to recover and give a statement to the investigating officer before taking legal action.

“He did not want to report last night because he was drunk and wanted to continue his holiday. He left the hospital and returned to the bar area.

“We suspect the victim was drunk at the time of the attack, which led to further blood loss.

‘Staff in the shop showed great bravery in helping to detain the attacker and also treating the injured tourist while waiting for an ambulance.’

Suspect Natthawat denied trying to sell drugs to tourists in the depraved coastal city but admitted allegedly stabbing the Briton.

“If you look at the security camera, you’ll see how it started. I normally walked out of the 7-Eleven store there, and he ran up to me and asked for drugs.

“I used Google Translate and he said he wanted drugs. I said I didn’t have any. His friend got mad at me and was about to fight me there before another man punched me.

“They broke my teeth, I got angry. I had a knife with me, I ran after him to stab him. I don’t sell drugs. Yes, I am the attacker.”

Officers detained Natthawat and seized two knives from him as evidence.

Police Captain Chainaret Phengkhaen from the local police station added: “The knife used in the attack was about five to six inches long.

“This belonged to the suspect who was carrying it.

“The Englishman appeared to be drunk and had argued with the suspect before the attack. The exact cause of the dispute is still under investigation.

“Following an argument, the British man entered a 7-Eleven store and the suspect followed him inside and stabbed him in the hip.

“Bangkok Hospital Pattaya reported that there was severe bleeding due to the victim drinking alcohol beforehand, which increased blood circulation.

“The injury was assessed as not serious and he refused further medical treatment.

“Only a small amount of cannabis was found on the British man. We do not believe the attacker’s claim that the victim was trying to buy drugs.

“The suspect has been detained and is being held in a holding cell pending further legal proceedings.”

In Pattaya, tourists are regularly attacked or involved in crime in the stunning sex destination. Sin City has been called P*rno disneyland and a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah.

Embarrassed officials in the central government have launched tourism initiatives to attract families and rebrand Pattaya as a safe destination.

But despite some success in cleaning up the town’s image, alcohol and sex still remain its biggest draws, often leading to high rates of crime and accidents.

Earlier this month, five security guards attacked an American tourist who allegedly tried to bypass the bar law.

In 2024, a British tourist who was already unconscious on the same road was repeatedly kicked in the head by security guards. He claimed that the bar tried to deceive him by inflating the receipt.
