Newcastle Red Bulls: Christian Wade to leave Wigan for rugby union
Christian Wade will leave the Super League champions Wigan Warriors at the end of the Rugby League season to return to the Rugby unit with Newcastle Red Bulls from December.
The 34-year-old cross codes codes to join Wigan with a short-term agreement from Gloucester at the end of the 2024-25 premiere season, but the 13-a-yan game could not have a permanent impact.
Wade took part twice for Wigan and made trials in both, but in July, Hull FC made high strokes in defeats, while Warriors made continuous use errors for the last time.
The second highest trial in the history of Prem Scorer – Chris Ashton’s record only – the close arrival of Wade is one of Newcastle’s first key moves after Red Bull’s inheritance.

“I wasn’t someone to be withdrawn from any challenge, I learned a lot from the experience, and it’s a special organization.
“The fans are incredibly like a crowd of football they are in which they are more tribal, and I am proud to represent them.”
Wigan Head Coach Matt Peet praised Wade’s professionalism and devotion during his time with Warriors.
