During his tour of Asia, Donald Trump met with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who expressed his support for his candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump, who praised the peace agreements in Thailand-Cambodia and the Middle East, also signed a critical mining agreement in Tokyo.
As Donald Trump continues his Asian tour, Japan is the last country to support his Nobel Peace Prize candidacy. The White House confirmed that during his visit, Trump met with Japan’s newly elected Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and that Takaichi expressed his intention to support the US president for the prestigious award. An official statement is still awaited from Tokyo.
The meeting took place at Tokyo’s Akasaka Palace, where Prime Minister Takaichi praised Trump’s role in brokering peace agreements, including the ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia and his recent efforts in the Middle East. ‘Mr. “The President has successfully brokered ceasefires in Thailand and Cambodia, and his latest success in the Middle East is a historic achievement,” Takaichi said.
Japan, considered one of the USA’s closest allies in Asia, also signed an important agreement with Trump on the supply of critical minerals and rare earths during the visit.
Trump’s Pursuit of Nobel Prize
Since taking office, Trump has frequently described himself as the ‘President of Peace’ and claimed to have ended conflicts in regions such as Gaza, India-Pakistan and Thailand-Cambodia. Although he did not receive the Nobel Prize this year, several countries, including Israel, Pakistan, Cambodia and Thailand, publicly supported him and officially nominated him for the honor.

Highlights of Trump’s Asian Tour
Trump began his Asia trip in Malaysia, attending the ASEAN summit and helping facilitate the Thailand-Cambodia peace agreement. After Japan, he will go to South Korea, where he will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. Trump will also meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Seoul to discuss ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China.
The tour underscores Trump’s emphasis on diplomacy in Asia and his quest for international recognition of his peace initiatives.
