Bunnings Newstead evacuated as police operation unfolds: Brisbane motorists and pedestrians told to avoid area

The Bunnings Warehouse store in the city was evacuated following a bomb threat.
The Newstead store in Brisbane was evacuated at around 8.35am on Tuesday after police arrived.
“Officers attended the incident at 8.35am and evacuated the premises as a precaution while the premises were searched,” a Queensland Police spokesman said.
The store, located on Breakdast Creek Road, is part of a shopping complex alongside other businesses, including Petbarn.
Police reportedly closed some roads near the store and told drivers and pedestrians to avoid the area.
Following the scan, Queensland Police said they did not find anything that would indicate a threat to the public.
“No suspicious items were detected and there is no other information indicating a threat to the public,” the spokesman said in a statement after 10.30am.
Multi-level Newstead Bunnings opened in 2019.
Police said the roads and the store have reopened.
