Bushfire threatening lives and homes in Perth hills
As a bushfire is now threatening lives and homes in the Perth hills, residents have been told they must take immediate action to survive.
The fire was reported just before 5pm on Friday and an hour later it was still out of control and not under control.
A Bushfire Emergency Warning is in place for people in the area bounded by the Great Eastern Highway, Coulston Road, Approach Road, Clayton Road, Victor Road, Beenong Road and Darlington Road for Boya, Darlington, Greenmount, Helena Valley and parts of Hovea in the Mundaring Shire.
Emergency warnings were issued to local people, telling them to leave westwards or eastwards via the Great Eastern Highway.
“If the road is clear, move to a safer location,” the warnings read.
“This could be with family or friends away from the area.
“Don’t wait and see, leaving at the last minute could endanger your life.
“If you are stranded in your car, park it away from the bushes, cover yourself with a wool blanket, and lie down on the ground as the windows may break due to the intense heat.
“If you’re not home, it’s too dangerous to go back.”
More to come.
