Businessman, 61, faces murder probe after ‘stabbing his wife to death’ following ‘girls’ trip’ to Turkey

A businessman faces a murder investigation after his ‘beautiful, strong, fearless’ wife was stabbed to death two weeks after returning from a holiday to Türkiye with a female friend.
Gavin Shaw, 61, was arrested after Michele Kennedy was attacked with a kitchen knife during a fight at a house in Warrington, Cheshire, earlier this month.
Mrs Kennedy, 55, described as a ‘larger than life character’ by her grieving family, worked as a security guard at G4S.
She has previously described Shaw as a ‘wonderful husband’ and ‘the best’ in Facebook posts.
It was reported that Mrs Kennedy managed to get out into the street after the attack, but collapsed outside.
He was taken to Aintree Hospital by paramedics in a critical condition and despite efforts to save him, he died five days later.
Shaw was initially charged with attempted murder and was remanded in custody following a hearing at Warrington magistrates’ court ten days ago.
He is currently being investigated for murder.

Today Ms Kennedy’s devastated family paid tribute to the victim, who worked for employers including MerseyRail and Avanti train operators and Creamfields Music Festival.
She was recently holidaying at a hotel in Marmaris with a female friend and was still sharing photos of her trip three days before the deadly attack.
In a statement they said: ‘Michele was a much-loved daughter, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.
‘She was an extraordinary character, beautiful, strong, fearless and one of a kind, who would leave a lasting impression on everyone she encountered, who would help everyone.
‘The loss of his life has left a huge void in our family and we know that the friends and colleagues who were involved in his life will feel the same.
‘A huge thank you to all the emergency services who came to the scene and all the people who tried to help. We will miss him very much.’
Shaw, who runs a tiling business, is thought to have married Ms Kennedy in 2016.
He would post pictures of the smiling couple and the flowers he bought for her on Facebook.
One message he sent read: ‘Love it, best xxx.’

A photo of Shaw on holiday showed her with a tattoo reading ‘Michele’ on her right arm.
At 4pm on October 13, Cheshire Police received a number of reports of an incident at a residential address in Manchester Road, Woolston.
They found Mrs. Kennedy seriously ill on the street as paramedics and passers-by tried to help her.
A police spokesman said: ‘He was taken to Aintree hospital but despite the best efforts of all involved Michele Kennedy passed away on Saturday 18 October.
‘His family is currently being supported by specially trained officers.
Preliminary results from the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ autopsy showed that Michele died as a result of stab wounds.
‘A murder investigation has been launched into his death and a 61-year-old man remains in custody.’
Shaw, of Manchester Road, Woolston, appeared in court on October 15 wearing a gray jumper.
He confirmed his full name, date of birth and address but was not asked to enter a defence.
His next hearing will be held at Liverpool Crown Court on 11 November.
