Bystander stabbed in Melbourne CBD after chasing man armed with knife
A man was stabbed in central Melbourne after trying to stop an “erratic” man carrying a knife in the CBD.
Police said a man armed with a knife was seen running through the Lonsdale Street shopping center car park around 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
Two bystanders followed the man along nearby Elizabeth Street and made a citizen’s arrest. Police later took the 32-year-old Dallas man into custody.
During the argument, one of the bystanders, a 41-year-old man from Maddingley, was stabbed in the lower body.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and was in a stable condition before being taken to St Vincent’s hospital.
A second man, a 35-year-old from Sanctuary Lakes, was uninjured.
A witness told Age He saw a shopkeeper who was stabbed by “holding something to his leg”.
He also said he saw three police officers standing over another man in handcuffs.
