Cabinet likely to discuss UKP-III phase today

The State Cabinet Meeting, which is planned to be held on Thursday, is likely to discuss compensation for the purchase of land for the Upper Krishna Project (UKP) phase III, which includes increasing the height of the Almatti Dam.
Total compensation
On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister DK Shivakumar, who also holds the water resources portfolio, chaired a meeting with ministers and senior officials. Basavaraj said that the previous BJP government, led by Bomnai, fixed the compensation of La 20 Lakh for 24 lakh per acre and dry land per acre for irrigated land. However, the farmers did not accept the amount.
Shivakumar said that the cabinet will discuss compensation, land acquisition, rehabilitation and restructuring issues on Thursday.
The court decided to make more compensation. However, the cabinet decided to provide more compensation. Authorized, farmers and MLAs, including the leaders of all parties, including a decision will be taken, he said.
The Minister of Water Sources of the Union said that he was asked to hold a meeting to accelerate the land acquisition process.
Project Cost
To complete the project, the government needs La 2 Lakh Crore to obtain 1.33 Lakh acres. Many lands have lost higher compensation by losing legal applications.
