Cameron Green Tops IPL 2026 Mini-Auction

Cameron Green emerged as the most expensive overseas buy ever in the TATA IPL 2026 mini auction, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) buying him for ₹25.2 crore, making it the third most expensive buy in IPL history.

Talk on JioHotstar ‘Match Center Live Auction 2026’JioStar expert Anil Kumble said Green should be used at the top of the order and not as a finisher. He noted that KKR already have decent finishing options in players like Rinku Singh, Rovman Powell and Ramandeep Singh. Kumble suggested that Green open the batting or play at No 3, thus allowing Sunil Narine to drop down the order or act as a floater.

Echoing similar views, JioStar expert Abhinav Mukund said KKR’s biggest weakness last season was their lack of strength at the top of the order, especially when chasing big totals. He said Green fits well as a top-order batsman and can open alongside Ajinkya Rahane, with youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi batting at No.3. Mukund added that the league is becoming increasingly power play oriented, reducing the need for the traditional lower-order power hitter.

Meanwhile, Anil Kumble praised Delhi Capitals for acquiring David Miller for just ₹2 crore and called it an “absolute steal”. He said Miller’s experience has addressed a key gap in Delhi’s squad and has significantly strengthened their middle order alongside Tristan Stubbs. Kumble added that this move reflects smart planning by Delhi Capitals, who had no experience last season.
