A section of the A38 in Willington has been branded Britain’s “most disgusting road”, with images showing the border being covered in a sea of ​​rubbish.

Campaign group Clean Up Britain, which says it is “the only national organization dedicated solely to tackling the litter and fly-tipping epidemic”, said the area had become a makeshift bin for drivers throwing cans and packaging materials through their windows.

National Highways told Independent The clean-up operation is the responsibility of South Derbyshire District Council. However, the local authority insisted that the responsibility lay with National Highways.
