Russia on fire as Ukraine launches devastating drone blitz on Moscow | World | News

Ukraine has launched a barrage of at least 287 drones over various parts of Russia, including Moscow. Russia’s defense ministry said at least 40 drones were shot down over Moscow, causing flights to be diverted from all major airports.

The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) confirmed that Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Zhukovsky airports imposed flight restrictions during the strike. Emergency crews worked to clear the debris, but no casualties or damage were reported.

Explosions were reported in the suburbs of Russia’s capital, Russian Telegram news channel Shot reported.

Russia retaliated by sending ballistic missiles and Shahed drones to Kremenchuk in Poltava Oblast overnight until December 11, hitting energy infrastructure and causing fires at energy facilities.

Regional Governor Volodymyr Kohut confirmed direct impacts and widespread power outages, although no deaths were reported by the morning.

This comes as Ukraine uses drones to target Russia’s shadow fleet, which is also used to circumvent economic sanctions imposed by the West.

Sea Baby naval drones hit the tanker Dashan in the Black Sea on December 10, causing critical explosions in its stern.

The ship was sanctioned by the EU, the UK, Canada, Australia, Switzerland and New Zealand for carrying Russian oil with its transponder deliberately disabled.

The SBU assessed the ship as out of service, making it the third shadow fleet tanker to be disabled in the last two weeks following the attacks on Kairos and Virat.
