Is Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced worth the 13 year wait?

But despite all the new elements and graphics, there’s no escaping the fact that it’s based on a game first released in 2013.

Ubisoft had to make a lot of calls about what to reuse and what to change from the original.

Welsh actor Matt Ryan’s performance is excellent, although some of the first game’s animation (such as characters repeatedly biting and spitting out a bottle cork) would have been better left in the past.

The game also suffers from a problem that is very common in modern games: it holds your hand too much.

In the most extreme case, at one point, a character gave me less than 10 seconds to solve the puzzle before telling me the solution.

The combat is also clearly inspired by modern Assassin’s Creed games, but retains some of the timing-based combat of the original.

There’s a nice marriage between the two, although it’s disappointing that some things weren’t recreated (like the assassin’s ability to use his hidden blades in combat).

This combination of modern and classic combat is a good example of where the game shines. And if Ubisoft uses this as a template, we could be set to see many more remakes of the series in the future.

Maybe the question isn’t whether it’s worth the wait, but how long we should wait for the next one.
