Exhibition to pay tribute to legacyof Narasimha Rao

The Prime Minister’s Museum and Library (PMML) will celebrate the 105th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao on Saturday, June 27, 2026, which will feature an exhibition showcasing a collection of rare photographs, official documents, speeches, correspondence and archival materials tracing the journey of the former Prime Minister.

Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, as a part of its regular activities, showcases the lives, visions and contributions of various Prime Ministers of India since independence and has started celebrating birthdays of various Prime Ministers. In the statement made by PMML, it was stated that the 105th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao will be celebrated at Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya on June 27, 2026.

Mr. Rao was born on June 28, 1921 in Warangal district of present-day Telangana.

The exhibits will highlight his leadership at a critical stage in India’s history and his role in implementing landmark economic reforms such as liberalization, privatization and globalization that transformed the country’s economic landscape.

The exhibition will also explore Mr. Rao’s multi-faceted personality as a scientist, freedom fighter, reformer and far-sighted statesman. Visitors will gain insight into his contributions to governance, diplomacy, economic transformation and nation-building, as well as his intellectual and literary pursuits.

The exhibition will also feature selected archival records, personal correspondence, speeches, photographs and audiovisual presentations that will provide visitors with a deeper understanding of Mr. Rao’s life, vision and legacy.

A senior official from the Ministry of Culture said that through this exhibition, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya aims to celebrate the enduring legacy of the statesman, who is often cited as the architect of modern, globalized India, and create greater awareness of his contributions among students, researchers and the general public.

The exhibition will be open to visitors at the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya in New Delhi from June 27.
