Microsoft launches first AI image creator

Microsoft has taken a big step in the world of artificial intelligence, launching its first artificial intelligence image generator, called MAI-Image-1, which is entirely trained in-house. This move appears to make the tech giant completely independent in the field of artificial intelligence, while also changing its dependence on OpenAI. The Redmond-based software company claims its new AI product, MAI-Image-1, aims to add value to creators and prevent “repetitive and generally stylized output.” The company also emphasizes that it receives feedback from professionals to get the best results from the artificial intelligence model.

What does Microsoft’s new AI image generator do?

The tech giant said MAI-Image-1 is particularly capable of creating “photorealistic images” that include lighting conditions, reflections and landscapes. Boasting of its features, the company said that the new artificial intelligence model will also provide faster results and enable better efficiency. He claimed that the AI model was better at these tasks compared to “many larger, slower models.”

In terms of comparison, Microsoft did not name any models. But the AI viewport is mostly used by a handful of players, including OpenAI and Google. Microsoft is now working to reduce its reliance on OpenAI (ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool) after the two companies recently changed their relationship. OpenAI also released a new AI application, Sora, ahead of Microsoft’s launch. The Sora App is available on the Apple App Store in the US and Canada. The app allows users to create AI-generated videos and share them online using the new Sora 2 engine.

Recently, Google has been in the news regarding its new AI trend, Nano Banana. Users in India have gone crazy experimenting with their visuals through the Nano Banana trend as it is the country with the largest user base so far.
