A car burst into flames on a busy main road in Burnley as emergency crews raced to the scene. Firefighters arrived on Padiham Road just after 8pm on Thursday.

The road is one of the town’s main arteries, running west from Burnley town center towards Padiham. Dramatic footage shows the car bursting into flames on the pavement in a residential area. The vehicle was positioned dangerously close to overhanging trees and bushes. It was stated that the fire caused serious damage to the vehicle, but there was no possibility of it growing further. Fire crews secured the area and spent less than an hour extinguishing the flames.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service’s incident log said: “On 19 February 2026 at 20:10 a fire engine from Burnley attended a vehicle fire on Padiham Road, Burnley.

“Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Crews were there for fifty minutes.”

No injuries have been reported yet and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
