Cardinals’ Travis Vokolek leaves field on backboard after neck injury

Arizona Cardinals tight end Travis Vokolek suffered a gruesome neck injury during the team’s Week 6 game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Vokolek appeared on the kickoff return against the Colts. He ended the play lying motionless on his back after attempting to block Indianapolis linebacker Segun Olubi.

While the players gathered around him, medical staff also approached Vokolek. Some players took a knee. He was loaded onto a stretcher and taken away from the field. He gave a thumbs up as the car passed through one of the tunnels at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The FOX broadcast reported that Vokolek was awake and able to move all of his limbs. He was subsequently eliminated for the remainder of the game.

The third-year player joined the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2023 after spending a summer with the Baltimore Ravens. The former Rutgers and Nebraska player appeared in seven games during his career. He spent 42% of his snaps this year on special teams.
Arizona wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. He also left the game in the first half to be evaluated for a concussion. He bounced his head hard off the grass.
Harrison was subsequently eliminated for the remainder of the game.

There were injuries to both teams heading into the match. Arizona ruled out Kyler Murray before kickoff with a foot injury Jacoby Brissett started the game. Colts cornerback Charvarius Ward and quarterback Anthony Richardson were injured during warmups.
