Case Registered Over Protest At Baldota Plant In Koppal

– Copal: Koppal Rural Police has registered a case against several leaders and others for allegedly trespassing on the premises of the Baldota Steel and Power Limited (BSPL) plant, damaging the walls and main gate of the plant, assaulting security personnel and threatening them during a protest.

The incident occurred on Tuesday. Based on a complaint filed by the Plant Security Manager of the plant, an FIR was registered at Koppal Rural Police Station on Wednesday.

The complainant stated that a public meeting on the occasion of 46th Farmers Martyrs’ Day was organized by the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Jilla Andolana Samiti and Parisara Hitarakshana Vedike in front of the gate of the BSPL factory on Tuesday.

He claimed that some speakers made provocative speeches against the company and called on those gathered to take back the lake. It was claimed that after the meeting, some of the protesters blocked the vehicles entering the factory and walked towards the factory.

According to the FIR, the protesters allegedly broke part of the compound wall, entered the factory without permission and attacked security personnel who tried to prevent them from entering.

The complaint also alleged that guards were mistreated, threatened with dire consequences and pushed aside before the group proceeded towards the lake inside the factory building.

It was claimed that on their way back, they damaged the property by dismantling the iron main gate of the factory.

The FIR names Yamanurappa Halahalli, Mookappa N Mestri, Bhimasen Kalikeri, Mallikarjun Gonal, Allamaprabhu Bettadoor, Manglesh Rathod and many others. The case has been registered under BNS Sections 189(2), 191(2), 126(2), 115(2), 352, 351(2), 324(1), 324(4), 329(3), 54 read with Section 19.
