Catherine Zeta-Jones chose New York over Hollywood and never looked back.

The Oscar-winning actress offers a rare glimpse into her life away from Los Angeles and reveals the decades she spent on the East Coast with husband Michael Douglas may have influenced her acting career.Fdisfdi

While many stars stay in Los Angeles to find the next role, Zeta-Jones, 56, has spent years building a life in and around New York City; He said this choice shaped his family, friendships and possibly his career trajectory.

In a remote interview with the media outlet “40 minutes out of town,” the actress made it clear that Hollywood insiders aren’t exactly regulars at the dinner table.

“I spend more time with New York business people, people on Wall Street, people in the arts,” he said. “Our friends and the people we encounter are different from those in Los Angeles.”

He emphasized that this was not a dig at Hollywood. “I get around a few different intersections in the city,” he explained.

Zeta-Jones and Douglas, 81, have been navigating these “roundabouts” together for more than 25 years. The couple met in 1998, married in 2000 and raised two children, Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22, largely away from the Hollywood bubble.

Douglas also has a son, Cameron, 47, with ex-wife Diandra Luker.

With their young children officially grown up, the couple is entering a new phase.

In June 2024, they listed their massive 11,653-square-foot riverfront property in Irvington, New York.

At the time, Zeta-Jones told The Wall Street Journal that the move made sense because her children were “leaving the nest.”

What hasn’t changed is his connection to New York’s art world.

Describing himself as an “eclectic collector,” he said, “I loved going to fancy houses in the Hamptons and looking at people’s art.”

In one of her latest projects, “The Gallerist,” Zeta-Jones plays Marianne, a flamboyant and powerful art consultant. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last month.

Despite staying away from the daily grind of Hollywood, Zeta-Jones is far from slowing down.

She is set to reprise her iconic role as Morticia Addams in Netflix’s hit series “Wednesday” and will also star in Prime Video’s upcoming thriller “Kill Jackie.”
