‘Police-led incident’ shuts UK motorway in both directions | UK | News

National Highways has introduced diversion protocols due to the closure of the M5 in both directions in Somerset. Emergency crews are at the scene between J21 near Weston-super-Mare and J20 near Clevedon.
A National Highways spokesman said road users should comply with the Strict Triangle diversion pattern if traveling northbound, which can be seen on road signs.
“Road users are advised to follow the Continuous Triangle guidance symbol on road signs,” they said.
Leave the M5 northbound at J2,1, join the A370 north/east towards Bristol, head north on the A370 via Congresbury, West Town and Long Ashton at Bristol and join the A4 westbound at the junction with the A4 and A370.
“Follow the A4 westwards towards Avonmouth (and) rejoin the M5 at J18 at Avonmouth.”
