CCTV captures wild moment two children escape from Melbourne kindergarten, skip merrily down busy road in Fitzroy North
CCTV captured the crazy moment two children jumped for joy along a busy Melbourne road after escaping from their nursery; An investigation is currently ongoing.
Young children could be seen jumping down St Georges Road in North Fitzroy just after 11am on Monday morning; The people watch them escape in surprise.
Nine News reported that children escaped from the nearby Isabel Henderson Nursery School by slipping over fences, triggering a massive search.
An eyewitness said the broadcaster was asked if he had seen the two children, adding to the confusion.
The parent of one of the children called the preschool after the duo arrived home, where they sat and watched the KPop movie Demon Hunters.
The police were also called.
It turned out that no children were harmed.
The Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority said in a statement that they were investigating the incident.
A spokesman for the regulator said: “(We) will not hesitate to take strong action to protect the safety, rights and interests of children.”
“Parents have the right to expect active supervision of their children in their education and care at all times.”
“Given the active investigation, we will not be commenting further until we complete this work.”
Nursery principal Anna Tibb told The Age the center had launched its own internal investigation and was working with authorities.
“This is truly devastating for the families involved and for us,” he told The Age.
“We are a very transparent and open organization and we take these things very seriously.”
