Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker earned more than $1.4 million from gambling in 2024, federal tax returns showed.
Pritzker, a Democrat who is seen as a possible presidential candidate in 2028, and his wife reported total income of about $10.7 million that year, according to state and federal filings shared with news organizations by the gubernatorial campaign on Wednesday.
The governor collected gambling money after playing blackjack at a Las Vegas casino during a holiday trip with his wife and friends, according to NBC News’ campaign.
CNBC has reached out to Pritzker’s campaign for comment on the tax returns.
A campaign aide told NBC that Pritzker plans to donate the winnings. He is expected to hold a news conference late Thursday morning, his aide said.
Pritzker has emerged as one of President Donald Trump’s most high-profile foes as the two clash over federal immigration enforcement in Illinois and more.
