Central rules don’t apply, state govt employees can’t participate in RSS events, says Kharge Jr

State IT/IT Minister Priyank Kharge on Monday said state government employees cannot participate in RSS activities as per service rules and those violating it will face action.

In his conversation with the media, he responded to questions about the participation of a paramedic on the sanchalan (route march) road in Sedam taluk of Kalaburagi district on Sunday. Authorities will investigate and the government will take action if anyone provides evidence of such involvement. “We will act based on evidence, not hearsay,” he said.

Kharge said that the service rules of the Indian government are different from those of the state, adding that he was aware that the Central rules allowed its employees to participate in RSS activities.
The government suspended a panchayat development officer in Raichur for participating in the RSS route march. However, Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya (BJP) offered to argue the official’s case before the court.

RSS successfully carried out a route march to commemorate its centenary in Sedam on Sunday despite taluk revenue officials not giving permission. When the police tried to stop the march, RSS volunteers resisted. A section of volunteers then resorted to arrest. The police later released them.

The state government has made prior permission mandatory for holding events in public places; this prevented the smooth conduct of RSS activities while celebrating the centenary of the organisation. In Chittapur, RSS, represented in the Assembly by minister Priyank Kharge, could not conduct its process on Saturday after the local collector did not give permission.
