States that have stabilized their populations in the last decade may see their share of representation in Parliament reduced if the proposals in the drafts of the Constitution Amendment Bill and the Limitation Bill circulated by the Center become law.
The Budget Session of Parliament reconvenes on Thursday, April 16, 2026, to consider the Constitution (131st) Amendment Bill and the Limitation Bill, which the government says aims to accelerate the implementation of 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.
