Centre Ready In Principle for 50:50 Funding of Hyderabad Metro Phase II: Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday said the Center is in principle ready to participate in the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro project on a 50:50 cost-sharing basis with the state government.
Reddy, who reviewed major development projects in Hyderabad with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal in Delhi, said Lal assured him that the Center would positively consider the state government’s proposal for the 162 km second phase.
Manohar Lal told Reddy that the Center will take its final decision after receiving the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and other technical details from the State government.
Manohar Lal also said that the Center is collaborating with the state government to improve infrastructure and basic amenities in Hyderabad, Reddy said in a statement.
He also informed Reddy that the Center had approved 39 sewage treatment plants (STPs) at a cost of Rs 3,975 crore to clean the Musi River under the Atal Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.O (AMRUT) scheme.
According to a PIB statement, the initiative was launched in 2021 with the aim of providing functional tap water connections to all households in statutory towns across the country and provide sewage/wastewater management coverage in 500 cities covered under the first phase of AMRUT.
