80 whips for hugging, kissing! Islamic court in Indonesia orders public flogging for ‘sexual act’

Do you remember the first Taliban rule of Afghanistan, where people are stoned for non -marriage relations? Public whipping was common to show love. He turned away from Afghanistan. It is believed that the country with the highest number of Muslims in Indonesia, known for moderate Islam, has been caught by radical Islam. An Islamic Court in the State of Conservative Aceh condemned them to the public, each 80 times, after dealing with what the Islamic religious police thought that the court had sexual actions.
Punishment for sexual action?
In what can be interpreted as a gay relationship, two men were arrested in April after seeing the residents entered the same bathroom in Taman Sari City Park. After overturning by the inhabitants, the police went into the toilet and caught the hug of kissing the men whom the court thought it was a sexual action. The hearing at the Islamic Shari’a Regional Court in the provincial capital Banda Aceh was kept behind the closed doors.
Public whip to kiss
The chief judge Rokhmadi M. Hum said that two university students have proved to violate Islamic law by taking actions that lead to gay sexual relations. The court did not define men publicly. The prosecutors previously sought 85 cane strokes for each, but they decided that they described the panel as a soft penalty because men were polite in court, cooperating with the authorities, and they were extraordinary students who had no convictions before.
Judges also ordered the time they serve their penalties. This means that the number of eyelashes will be reduced by four as it has been detained for four months. Many Indonesian prosecutor Alfian, using only one name, said he was not satisfied with the lighter sentence. But he said he wouldn’t object.
Radical Islam in Indonesia
Aceh is the only state of Muslim majority that is allowed to observe a version of Islamic law of Indonesia. It provides up to 100 eyelashes for moral crimes, including gay sex. Basing is also punished for women wearing adultery, gambling, drinking and tight clothes and men who jump on Friday prayers. The secular center of Indonesia gave Aceh the right to implement the law in 2006 as a part of a peace agreement to end a separatist war. In 2015, ACEH applied an expansion of the law to non -Muslims, which constitutes approximately 1% of the state population.
Human Rights Groups criticizing the punishment, the international treaties signed by Indonesia violated international treaties that protect minority rights. Indonesia National Penal Code does not regulate homosexuality. Monday’s decision has been the fifth time in which Aceh condemned people to the public for homosexuality since Islamic law was applied. In February, the same court condemned two men to the public 85 times for homosexual sex, after suspected that they were gay after the neighborhood awake in the Banda Aceh and entered their rental rooms to catch them naked and hugging each other.
