Chance for kids to become young scientists at Royal Show display

Young royal demonstrations will be a scientist for a day while following the food on the plate in the regional development department.
This year’s Interactive Trail will guide visitors through DPIRD’s scientific and innovation attempts, which helps WA’s growth and development of agricultural industries.
Small visitors can be a scientist for the day by wearing a laboratory jacket and glasses while wandering on the interactive training screen.
Small scientists will be able to look at the real microscopes to get a close look of special grass grown for sheep feeding, and learn how DPIRD’s Feed365 initiative helps farmers to grow healthy, green plants for animal husbandry throughout the year.
Another part of the road will explain how science is used to develop the soil used to enlarge cereal crops as well as ‘Remove Flep’ to match various grains with daily foods.
The science of emotions will be investigated at the Apple station, which will attract feedback on fruit samples, similar to the sensory tests of DPIRD, which are used to create new and delicious apples of visitors.
After completing the trail, “scientists” will be able to get a stamp and a selfie wearing laboratory jackets and glasses.
CEC McConnell, Deputy General Manager of DPIRD PRIME INDUSTRY Development, said the padoktan plate screen will show the science behind the food we eat and the clothes we wear.
“Science is an inseparable part of what we provide and supply to packaging innovations, from helping to create healthy soils that grow healthy food, as the food reaches supermarket shelves,” he said.
“DPIRT scientists are working with farmers and through the supply chain to get good nutritious foods from the padok to the plate while looking at us.
Orum I encourage the royal show to visit the visitors – young and not so young – to visit the DPIRD screen and to get an idea of the scientific and research activities that support our farmers who produce our food. ”
DPIRD’s Padoktan plate screen will be at the Perth Royal Show between 27 September – 4 October, in the east -centered pavilion of the showgrounds near Gate 10.
