Charli XCX and Raye to headline

British stars Charli XCX, Dave and Raye will headline Reading and Leeds Festival next summer.

Irish rockers Fontaines DC, electronic duo Chase & Status and singer Florence + The Machine will also headline both events over the August bank holiday weekend.

For the first time in 25 years, headliners at sister festivals are exclusively British and Irish artists, organizers say.

Five-time Brit Award winner Charli XCX’s shows are her only UK festival shows and are currently planned for next year.

Reading and Leeds bosses have said the twin events will be the only UK festival for the six headliners next year.

The West Yorkshire site will also host a headline performance on Thursday, with rock band Kasabian taking to the stage for the first time.

Irish rap trio Kneecap, pop singer Jade and grime artist Skepta are also on the list over the weekend, alongside US singers Sombr and Role Model.

Other confirmed artists include up-and-coming singer Skye Newman, Manchester-based DJ Josh Baker, Irish producer Kettama, US rock band Geese, Slovak singer Adéla and rock band Keo.

Dutch DJ Chris Stussy will only play Reading and no further acts have yet been announced.

US pop star Chappell Roan and US rapper Travis Scott were among the festival headliners this summer, alongside metal band Bring Me The Horizon and singer-songwriter Hozier.

The events will take place at Reading’s Richfield Avenue and Leeds’ Bramham Park from 27-20 August, with artists performing on rotating days.

Tickets will go on general sale on Thursday and pre-sales are already live.
