NFL: Kansas City Chiefs to miss play-offs for first time since 2014 season

Three-time Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes will miss the NFL postseason for the first time in his career as the Kansas City Chiefs have been eliminated from the playoffs.
Sunday’s 16-13 loss at home to the Los Angeles Chargers means the Chiefs will miss the playoffs for the first time in 11 years, despite having three regular season games remaining.
Head coach Andy Reid has led the Chiefs to the postseason in each of the last 10 seasons and the Super Bowl in five of the last six seasons.
They won the NFL’s championship game in 2020, 2023 and 2024 and were denied a berth in the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat last February.
Mahomes, 30, became the Chiefs’ starting quarterback in 2018 and has made at least an AFC Championship game appearance in each of the last seven seasons; Only the New England Patriots (2011-2018) achieved this feat.
The Chiefs also had the second-longest postseason run in NFL history behind the Patriots (2009-2019).
